AUSTRALIA’S largest bulk and general stevedore, Qube Ports & Bulk, operates in 29 ports nationally. It is part of the ASX-listed Qube Logistics Holdings and comprises two divisions: Qube Ports and Qube Bulk, both of which are active in Port Hedland.
Qube is committed to investing in port and bulk import and exportsupply chain and infrastructure projects, and is able to combine both capital investment with practical know how and expertise.
Qube Ports operates from the multi-purpose berths 1 and 3 in Port Hedland and handles an increasing amount of project cargoes and accommodation modules, as well as some small parcel bulk products. It has the experience and capacity to provide an integrated service offering ship unloading, transport and logistics services as well as agency support. Qube Bulk invested in and operates
the Utah Point stockyard and provides stockpile management and ship loading services for bulk exporters. Qube Bulk can provide customers with a full range of bulk material handling services, including transport, stockpile management, ship loading facilities and stevedoring, providing an integrated infrastructure and operating solution from mine to export vessel.
In an 18 month period, Qube designed, fabricated, installed and commissioned the Utah Point site specific inloading infrastructure to receive and stockpile iron ore, manganese and chromite on 13 discreet stockpiles. Qube is committed to offering a fully integrated service and this has been strengthened by its recent acquisition of Giacci Bros, which has a national presence and experience in the management and haulage of bulk products.
Together, the two organisations offer unrivalled experience in stockpile management, haulage and port services, providing customers with a one-stop shop for their logistics chain.
Innovation is critical to Qube meeting customer requirements. The award winning Rotabox system developed by Qube enables it to provide a safe, clean and cost efficient transport and loading solution for small parcel bulk cargoes. The Rotabox system has a proven ability to operate from ship’s gear with good productivity.
The strength and experience of the combined Qube/Giacci group and the innovative solution provided by the Rotabox were recognised recently when Sandfire Resources awarded Qube the total export logistics solution for 280,000t of export product through Port Hedland, from its DeGrussa copper project in the mid-west region of WA.
Qube provides its customers with the benefit of its experience in project development and supply chain management in road, rail and port operations, backed with the capability to make significant investment in design, development, operation and maintenance of infrastructure.
