Leader in spill management eases environmental pressure on companies.

MEETING environmental obligations is important to Australian-owned spill management and environmental safety company Ecospill.

As governments become more aware of the impact of business and industry on the environment, companies are expected to comply with new rules and regulations. Ecospill aims to help businesses that produce, handle or store goods that pose a threat to the environment – such as fuels, oils, dangerous goods and chemicals – to operate in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Ecospill managing director Kevan Goff said he remembered when safety and the environment were not always a priority.

“Every now and then they [governments] thought about safety where nowadays safety is incorporated into the very fabric of the very first duty…of the day to the very last duty they do of the day,” he said.

“Safety is really a part of them being at work and, similarly, the environmental aspect is going along the same tracks.”

Ecospill offers a range of spill training courses to ensure that the oil and gas industry is prepared for any environmental incident. The company’s six-day Certificate IV: Management in Safety and Environmental Practices course was designed to educate operators in the steps necessary prevent spill incidents from escalating into catastrophic events. The nationally-recognised course caters for occupational health and safety co-ordinators and officers, environmental officers and managers, team leaders, supervisors and frontline management staff.

A one-day course for managing spill incidents in the workplace can be conducted at Ecospill’s training facility or a client’s workplace.

The company offers a range of products to help in workshops, including spill kits, containment pallets, water and oil separators, safety cabinets, spills trays and floor bunding.

Ecospill grew from an established water filtration, pressure cleaner and pumps company in response to increasing demand for spill response training services and equipment.

After the global financial crisis in 2009, Ecospill developed a budget range of spill kits as an affordable option without compromising on compliance.

As environmental compliance is not the core business of most companies, Ecospill takes away the pressure through qualified, professional consultants that can visit onsite when required and propose simple, efficient, cost-effective solutions to meet environmental obligations.

Based in Brisbane, Ecospill is proudly Australian-owned and committed to helping clients meet environmental obligations across the country.
