EMERGING diversified exploration company Natural Resources Exploration (NRE) was incorporated in late 2009 and has projects in the Northern Territory and Queensland, including a number of advanced greenfield projects.
The company recently underwent a restructure and, under its new title NRE Group, now incorporates subsidiaries such as NRE Base Metals and NRE Phosphate.
NRE prides itself on its refreshing approach to exploration. One extremely experienced geophysicist said that he saw similarities between NRE’s exploration approach and those of Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, which served both mining majors well in the long term.
NRE has embraced opportunities to explore in the Northern Territory, and is focused on the development of its large tenement portfolio. During recent exploration at its Unca Creek project in Jervois, NRE undertook geophysical surveys, geological mapping and surface sampling. The company reported that significant results were returned that warranted further exploration work at the prospect.
“Several copper mineralised lodes have been identified which represent the on-strike continuation of lodes currently being drilled with great success by Kentor in their Jervois mining lease, which abuts the NRE tenement to the south,” NRE reported.
“Two additional prospects within Unca Creek have been identified as having minerals which are associated with copper mineralisation and in particular, after massive and semi-massive sulphides.
“Majority of rock chips collected and sampled returned anomalous copper. Numerous samples also returned anomalous silver, gold, bismuth, tungsten and cobalt. Numerous samples returned [greater than] 1 per cent copper and [greater than] 1 gram per tonne silver with some of those samples having [greater than] 10g/t silver and up to 2.73g/t gold.”
NRE also recently conducted drilling in a greenfield region of the Northern Territory known as Daly Waters. The drilling of NRE’s Daly Waters project was conducted in collaboration with the Northern Territory Department of Resources Geological Survey (NTGS), as part of the NTGS’s Round 4 2011-2012 Geophysics and Drilling Collaboration Program.
“NRE, in collaboration with the NTGS, has now obtained significant insight into the stratigraphy of the Daly Waters region, a region previously considered as being relatively unexplored in the NT,” NRE reported.
“In the next twelve months, NRE intends on interpreting the data and results it obtained from this program in an attempt to better understand the potential for an economic base metal deposit in the region.
“NTGS’s collaboration programs are a great way for exploration companies to add to the geological knowledge of greenfield areas in the Northern Territory, while also obtaining significant information to advance their exploration projects.”
