AUSTRALIAN owned company PowerTek has been engineering, manufacturing and supplying quality and innovative solutions for all electrical applications within the mining industry for many years.

The privately owned Tasmanian company is experienced in catering to clients’ needs, meeting requirements while keeping to a specified budget and assuring the supply of quality innovative solutions for all electrical applications.

Powertek has worked on a number of prominent mining projects recently with MMG  including the secondary grinding circuit electrical upgrade, floatation circuit up grade and the No. 1 Substation upgrade consisting of manufacturing the M switchroom also supplying the two 20MVA transformers for this project. Also Powertek contributed to recent improvement to Strahan’s power supply with local supply authority. The town was solely reliant on a single power line, drawing electricity from nearby Queenstown which proved very unreliable due to a number of environmental factors; this would often result in the town having to go without power for lengthy periods of time.

Powertek designed and manufactured the New Style 1500kVA 1000V Form 4 compact design substation for MMG Rosebery Mine.

Powertek designed and manufactured the new standby generator substation ensuring the Strahan people have a reliable power supply. The permanent substation consisted of two high capacity, remote controlled generators and one 1500kVA substation to ensure a constant supply of electricity was maintained at all times.

Since its establishment in 1998, Powertek has built its reputation on developing and manufacturing a comprehensive range of quality products known for its design edge and quality workmanship. It puts its success down to the ability to diversify with customers across Australia and overseas.

Powertek also provide services including equipment and labour hire, transformer sales and hire, jumbo conversions, site and installation and commissioning, PLC programming and commissioning and HV manufacturing.
