An industry-leading approach to diversity and inclusion has resulted in two awards for Anglo American at the prestigious 2024 QRC/WIMARQ Resources Awards for Women in Queensland.

“For Anglo American to be part of this group has been truly humbling, and something I am immensely proud of.”

Mr van der Westhuizen highlights the recognition came off the back of a concerted effort over several years to increase the number of females in leadership positions across the company’s steelmaking coal operations.

“The introduction of a suite of programs – including Enabling You, RealYOU, Let’s Listen Forums and WoMine – have helped us create a more supportive environment and had a positive and sustainable impact on our company’s culture,” he said.

“She has already made great strides in improving our culture; ensuring we have safe spaces for people to speak up, share ideas and accountability when it comes to psychological and cultural safety.
