IN 2006, Mobil Lubricants and Specialties made a decision to establish a number of independent lubricants distributors as a means of better servicing its existing customer base and a model for the future. Four years later, the company announced further changes to its business model by closing its lubricant blend plant in Yarraville, Melbourne, and ceasing sales and marketing activities in the Australian market.

Mobil is committed to the marketing of Mobil lubricants in the Australian and New Zealand markets and its new business model was designed to ensure long-term competitiveness and better serve market requirements.

Its business model change resulted in enhanced customer service through skilled, locally-based distributors with warehousing and a decentralised distribution structure that provides a more flexible customer offering.

As the authorised distributor of Mobil lubricant products for NSW, Lubes Direct started operation in 2006 as an independently owned business.

The Lubes Direct facility at Penrith is the central Mobil lubricant distribution warehouse for NSW, with a number of specialised sales representatives operating in the Sydney Metro, mid-coast and central coast areas and a support network of distribution points across the state.

The company stocks a full range of Mobil lubricants for automotive, industrial, marine and aviation applications.

Lubes Direct owns and operates a fleet of delivery vehicles to provide excellent delivery services across the full breadth of the Sydney Metro area and has the ability to provide next-day delivery in most areas of Sydney.

In 2009, Lubes Direct was awarded the prestigious ExxonMobil Circle of Excellence award which recognises the outstanding performance of ExxonMobil distributors across the Asia Pacific region.
