AT QME 2012, Marathon will be promoting its Marathon RL reusable flat-proofing rubber tyre liner.
The liner was designed to improve the performance and safety of rubber tyres used on underground mining equipment and industrial machines, particularly in situations where punctures or other tyre damage may impact production.
Marathon Tyres national business development manager Dean McGuiness said that the Marathon RL liners also reduced the risks associated with pneumatic tyres, including tyre explosions, and the dangers posed to staff changing flat tyres in underground mine settings.
He added that Marathon RL liners provided a pneumatic-type ride, were reusable once a tyre wore smooth, and reduced the chances of a cracked locking ring or rim components flying off if damaged.
“The liner also adds a great deal of extra stability to a machine when used on a cross gradient,” Mr McGuiness said.
“The Marathon RL features internal honeycomb hexagon shaped holes that run circumferentially, allowing it to be repaired if damaged.”
Mr McGuiness said that the Marathon RL liner was designed and engineered to flex under load in the same manner as an air-filled tyre, cushioning the ride and maximising a tyre’s footprint to give better traction, stability and longer tyre life. He said that another plus was that
the liner removed the requirement to monitor tyre pressure or inflate tyres. In addition to supplying its rubber tyre liners, Marathon is also a leading supplier of Giant off-the-road tyres and rims, as well as providing tyre management and associated services to open cut mine operators.
Marathon will be at stand 9713 at QME 2012.
