A new data hub is set to drive digital transformation and growth across the resources sector in Perth, WA, while combatting the nation’s technology skills shortage and growing the local tech talent pool.

The Avanade Data Hub (Industry X) launched last week in Perth with the aim of helping the oil and gas, mining and asset-intensive organisations improve its capabilities in sustainability, carbon management, new ways of working, operational and cost efficiency, as well as health and safety.

Director of Avanade Data Hub and Perth Territory Lead, Vanessa Black, says the Hub is a centre of excellence that helps the resources industry deliver end-to-end, connected and intelligent solutions, also known as Industry X.

“This means marrying our industry knowledge with innovation and Microsoft’s cutting-edge technologies to help organisations in the resources industry transform its operations, manage assets, drive sustainability, and empower employees.

“As an organisation committed towards making a genuine human impact, we’re also excited to play a key role in nurturing the local tech talent pool in Perth – from improving diversity to developing specialised skillsets and enabling more people to pursue rewarding careers in technology.”

Avanade, founded in 2000 through a joint venture between Accenture LLP and Microsoft Corporation, is the leading provider of innovative digital, cloud and advisory services, industry solutions and design-led experiences across the Microsoft ecosystem.

Industry X solutions will enable organisations to harness the power of data with emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence (AI), create and enhance experiences with augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as define new operating models.

The Avanade Data Hub in Perth joins Avanade’s growing network of offices, hubs and digital innovation studios in Australia located in: Adelaide (Engineering Hub), Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney.
