Australian Floating Decks – Professional Services
Australian Floating Decks (AFD) is an industry leader in the sale and purchase of commercial vessels for Australian companies.
AFD managing director Paul Toussaint-Jackson has over 30 years of industry experience and created the WA based company in 2014. In the last 11 years AFD has grown into a multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary professional services operation that has deep experience across a wide range of infrastructure design, project logistics and operations.
AFD’s experience has developed from the diverse range of requirements of its clients including some of Australia’s leading corporations. AFD has evolved into a highly specialised operator engaged in some of Australia’s largest resource projects.
“In recent years we have evolved into a leading specialist of giant modular cargo load transfer, including for the new ammonia plant at Dampier, and have been able to offer a complete range of services for this type of operation including full engineering services, vessel and shoreside operations management,” said Paul.
AFD’s infrastructure designs have included major port infrastructure that has attracted very large private investment. As designers, the company has been very well placed to move into ongoing asset maintenance and operations support. This work includes both light and heavy engineering, biosecurity systems development and maintenance as well as the supply of personnel and equipment.
The company’s vessel designs have been developed for bespoke operations requirements in areas of shallow water and special environmental sensitivity.
Its maritime operations work has included the operation, survey and maintenance of vessels and major ship conversion and repair projects.
The trade development work at AFD has been a great success and it has twice been finalists in the WA export awards.
“We have been in the vanguard of establishing the liner trade in general cargo from Asia to the Pilbara,” said Paul.
“We have also been an active exporter in our own right as well as facilitating the exports of many clients.”
AFD has also extended its services to the mining sector to include the demobilisation of equipment and the supply and repair of site accommodation. In 2024 AFD undertook demobilisation of major assets for Novo Resources Corp (ASX: NVO) at one of its Pilbara sites.
“None of this work would have been possible without the excellent support of leading companies that have provided the opportunity to co-develop specialist expertise,” said Paul.
“Nor without the many deep professional and special contractor relationships including with Marine & Construction Services and the Daynite Group.”
