Swivelpole expands with Newcastle distribution centre
Swivelpole, an Australian manufacturer of lowering pole systems for industrial infrastructure, has opened a new distribution centre in NSW.
The facility is the company’s first east coast distribution hub and will improve product availability, delivery times and project support for customers across NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.
By holding inventory locally, the company will provide faster product availability, reduced freight costs and improved project support for the mining, oil and gas, power generation, water, infrastructure, defence and industrial sectors.
Previously, all Australian orders were dispatched from Swivelpole’s headquarters in Mandurah, WA. While this model successfully supported customers nationwide, continued growth across the eastern states highlighted the need for a dedicated distribution hub closer to customers.
Swivelpole director Rob Pannekoek says the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting customers across eastern Australia.
“The opening of our Newcastle distribution centre is a significant milestone for Swivelpole and reflects our long-term commitment to customers across the eastern states,” he said.
The Newcastle facility will hold standard product inventory, enabling shorter lead times and more responsive delivery for both planned projects and more immediate requirements.
The facility will also offer a pre-electrical assembly service for lighting applications. Where specified, Swivelpole lowering poles can be supplied with luminaires, mounting hardware, junction boxes and associated components assembled before dispatch.
Each assembled unit is individually tested and tagged, with corresponding Test & Tag documentation provided as part of a project-specific quality register. By reducing the amount of electrical assembly required on site, the service can help streamline installation and reduce site labour requirements, particularly on projects where electrical work must be undertaken by certified personnel or within scheduled shutdown windows.
Swivelpole lowering pole systems are designed to allow lighting and other pole-mounted equipment to be safely lowered to walkway or platform level for routine inspection, maintenance and replacement. By eliminating the need for ladders, scaffolding or elevated work platforms for many routine maintenance activities, the system helps improve safety while reducing maintenance time and associated access costs.
The technology is suitable for both new installations and the retrofit of existing rigid poles and is used across a broad range of industrial applications, including lighting, CCTV, communications equipment, wireless infrastructure, weather monitoring equipment and other pole-mounted assets.

The Newcastle distribution centre is scheduled to commence operations in August 2026.
