Built for industry, driven by culture

Founded in the Pilbara and shaped by a deep connection to Country, Hicks Civil & Mining is far more than just a run of the mill contractor. Over the past 15 years it has built a reputation grounded in resilience, cultural integrity and a long-term commitment to the WA resources sector and regional communities.
Established in 2010 by Ngarluma man Peter Hicks and his family, the company has grown from humble beginnings into one of WA’s most respected Aboriginal-owned civil and earthworks contractors. Today, Hicks delivers major works across civil construction, haulage, rehabilitation, infrastructure maintenance and equipment hire, supporting some of the country’s largest mining and resource companies.
Over the years, Hicks has demonstrated an ability to evolve alongside the changing demands of the mining and infrastructure sectors. The company has delivered more than $60m in contracts under direct and subcontracting arrangements and continues to secure major projects with industry leaders including BHP and Rio Tinto. Recent works include large-scale earthworks, autonomous haul road infrastructure, rehabilitation projects and complex operational works within live mining environments.
Genuinely local
The company’s growth has remained closely tied to its commitment to local employment and Indigenous participation. Hicks continues to invest heavily in training, systems and workforce development, while also maintaining a strong focus on women in leadership. Across the business, women occupy key operational, executive and corporate roles, reflecting a deliberate effort to create opportunities and foster diversity within a traditionally male-dominated industry.
The company’s long-standing presence in the Pilbara also provides a strategic advantage. With operational hubs in Port Hedland, Karratha and Perth, Hicks combines regional knowledge with proven project capability, allowing it to effectively service remote and complex worksites across WA.
As the resources sector continues to place greater emphasis on sustainability, community partnerships and Indigenous participation, Hicks is the kind of business increasingly shaping the future of the industry.
Strongly grounded in culture while continuing to embrace innovation and growth, the company has positioned itself as more than a contractor — it is a proudly Aboriginal-owned business creating long-term value for both industry and community alike.
