Monadelphous unveils “Rubino”: the newest and largest crane to join the fleet

This week, Monadelphous (ASX: MND) unveiled the largest and newest crane — “Rubino” — to join the company’s fleet.
Named in honour of former Monadelphous chairman John Rubino, members of the Rubino family were joined by Monadelphous executives, staff members, customers in Port Hedland for the unveiling.
Monadelphous was joined by Tadano president and chief executive Toshiaki Ujiie and executive officer Takashi Fuki at the unveiling.
“Rubino” is a Tadano CC88.1600-1 crane with a load capacity of 1600t and is capable of lifting the equivalent of three Boeing 747 airplanes at a radius of 42m.
With a total counterweight of 1155t, it can lift more than any other crane currently in Australia and is currently one of the largest cranes in the southern hemisphere.
Monadelphous managing director Zoran Bebic commented on the crane.
“This crane not only represents our commitment to delivering what we promise, but also honours the legacy of our much-loved former chairman, John Rubino, with the naming of the giant of our fleet,” he said.
“We’re pleased to continue our long-term partnership with Tadano, which began over 25 years ago, and appreciate the team joining us in Port Hedland to unveil “Rubino”.”
Mr Ujiie echoed Mr Bebic’s sentiment.
“We are thrilled to see “Rubino” find its home with Monadelphous,” he said.
“Our collaboration with Monadelphous showcases the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to advancing the industry.”
The crane has been commissioned to work on the BHP Car Dumper 3 project in Port Hedland.
