Round two of Pilbara Minerals’ (ASX: PLS) community grants program has opened with community groups eligible to apply for up to $10,000 in funding.

Designed to empower local groups that make a difference in their community, the grants program targets projects and events that will improve access to education, build healthy communities and enable the energy transition.

Pilbara Minerals managing director and chief executive Dale Henderson says the company is pleased to continued its annual grants program.

“We invited applications for grants of up to $10,000 for community projects that align with our priority investment areas of education, community resilience and the energy transition,” he said.

“No-one knows what the community needs more than the people who live and work there and we’re looking forward to once again engaging with the people of Port Hedland and neighbouring communities to understand how Pilbara Minerals can help support the initiatives that matter most to them.

“We value the partnerships we have in the region and view this as one of the ways to give back and make a difference by contributing to the social and economic prosperity of the communities we are part of.”

Launched in October 2023, the first round of grants successfully awarded more than $100,000 in funding across 12 organisations.

“last year we funded a wide range of initiatives, including junior soccer uniforms, system upgrades for primary schools and a youth mindfulness program,” Mr Henderson said.

“These grants are more than just money, they provide the leg up that organisations need to build a stronger, more resilient and healthy community.”

Applications for round two close on July 31, 2024.
