Liebherr-Australia continues to grow its partnership with Stanmore Resources (ASX: SMR) with the arrival of a second R 9600 excavator at the South Walker Creek mine located in the Queensland Bowen Basin.

The first 600t machine was delivered to Stanmore’s Yellow Iron fleet in September operating at the metallurgical coal mine.

Built by Liebherr-Australia’s Mackay project team, both excavators were delivered on time and within budget.

The projects were managed through a consistent, team-based approach with a clear focus on safety, performance and customer satisfaction that ensured each machine was delivered to exact specifications and ready to perform.

Liebherr-Australia Mackay project manager Jamie Marsden says seeing the R 9600 come to life and reach its destination has been incredibly rewarding.

“The collaboration among our team, our partners and our customers was outstanding, and every person involved went above and beyond,” he said.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence that everyone put into these projects.”

The R 9600 is the latest generation heavy-duty excavator and boasts the highest bucket capacity within the 600t class. By utilising Liebherr’s advanced power efficiency systems, with its patented engine and hydraulic management technology, it also burns 20% less fuel than its predecessor.

Stanmore resources general manager Jason Greig says he was impressed by the teamwork that got the machines to site.

“Stanmore Resources is incredibly proud to be the custodians of two of Liebherr’s leading edge R 9600 excavators at its South Walker Creek mine,” he said.

“The most impressive part of watching these machines being built, commissioned and put to work was the way the three parties worked in close collaboration to achieve such great outcomes.

“Stanmore Resources is looking forward to a continuation of the strong relationships built throughout the last 12 months as we watch to see what these excavators are capable of doing in the operation.”
