When I got the call that I would be taking on a new role at Pump & Abrasion Technologies, an old colleague asked where I would be working.
I said, excitedly, “Pump & Abrasion Technologies.”
He replied: “I hope you’re ready – whatever was good enough yesterday will not be good enough tomorrow.”
I remember thinking: Challenge accepted. Who wouldn’t want to be part of a company with that kind of mindset? A company where the future is limitless.
I started my journey with Pump & Abrasion Technologies in South Africa. From day one, the culture was tangible. You could feel it in the air.
The way people conducted themselves – disciplined, focused, intentional. Always on time, always prepared. There was a clear expectation: strive for excellence or you won’t fit in.
What stood out most was the level of urgency and collaboration across the business. Every department aligned, working together – like a well-coordinated orchestra.
Soon after, I was given the opportunity to relocate to Australia to lead Pump & Abrasion Australia.
What I found here was truly inspiring – that same culture, carried across continents. The same discipline. The same intent. The same drive.
Coming from a financial background as a Chartered Accountant, I initially saw the mining industry through a commercial lens – cost savings, reduced downtime, improved efficiency. And while those remain critical, I quickly realised something more important.
Being a trusted partner matters more.
Trust is not given — it is earned.
It is earned by showing up. By responding, no matter the time of day. By treating a client’s operational challenge as if it were your own.
On paper, it is easy to measure impact – total cost of ownership, pump life, water savings, throughput, reduced downtime. But what I have come to realise is that how you respond matters just as much as what you deliver.
I have spent many hours in the field with our team, visiting operations and engaging directly with our clients. What stood out most was not just the performance of our equipment, but the strength of the relationships. The trust built over time. The way our customers speak about our people.
That is what makes the difference.
At Pump & Abrasion Technologies, we are backed by proven pump systems, in-house research and development, and our own foundry, allowing us to control our supply and metallurgy. But more importantly, we are backed by a team that takes ownership, works together, and is committed to solving problems properly.
We intentionally focus on pumps – we are pump system specialists. That focus allows us to go deeper, to understand applications better, and to deliver solutions that perform.
We are not perfect. We have made mistakes. But we don’t shy away from them. We face them head-on, take accountability, and fix the problem. No excuses.
I am proud to lead the team at Pump & Abrasion Australia and to be part of a business built on this culture of excellence. It is a culture that is disciplined, driven, and quietly confident.
Our goal is simple.
To be your first call.
To earn your trust.
And to partner with you in ensuring your operations run at their best.
