Fixed wing aircraft revolutionising mine site rehabilitation

Since 2021, Superair has been helping operators address one of the resource sectors’ most persistent challenges, dust suppression. By combining purpose-built aircraft with advanced application technologies, Superair has established itself as the partner for mine site dust management and land rehabilitation.
Mining operations often face difficult terrain, remote locations and large operational footprints that make traditional dust suppression methods expensive, time-consuming, or simply impractical. Superair’s aerial application system overcomes these limitations by delivering precise treatment exactly where it is needed — stabilising surfaces inaccessible to ground vehicles.
The company’s purpose-built fixed wing aircraft offer significant production and cost-effective advantages. Capable of operating from airstrips (grass or gravel) or internal mine site haul roads as short as 400m, these aircraft offer unmatched flexibility while carrying up to four times the product volume of other aircraft types. This translates directly into greater productivity, lower operating costs and faster project completion for clients than any other form of aerial application.
Superair’s efficiency is reflected in its performance metrics — capable of applying up to 300,000L of product per day and treat about 50ha daily at application rates of 6,000L/ha.
The aircraft complete a full operational cycle in just three minutes from take-off to landing, while specially designed loading equipment enables the rapid reloading of 1,800L of product in only 30 seconds.
These efficiencies allow Superair to deliver large-scale projects with remarkable speed, including operations involving more than 2.1 million litres of product on a single site.
For dust suppression operations, Superair applies specialised polymers and soil binders to the customers’ requirements, that improve surface stability to reduce ongoing maintenance requirements. The company also supports environmental rehabilitation through hydromulching services, applying carefully formulated mixtures of seed, fertiliser and fibre to encourage vegetation establishment and long-term land recovery.
As mining and energy companies continue to prioritise operational efficiency, environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance, aerial solutions are becoming increasingly important. Superair’s combination of specialised aircraft, rapid deployment capability and proven large-scale application expertise positions it at the forefront of this aerial evolution.
By delivering effective dust control and rehabilitation solutions from the air, Superair is helping Australian resource operators improve safety, productivity and environmental outcomes across some of the country’s most challenging landscapes
