From wharf to site gate
The Melbourne staging hub built for resources projects
Every resource project relies on freight. In Victoria, plant and equipment land at the Port of Melbourne months before a site is ready to receive them. Imported machinery needs biosecurity clearance before it can even move an inch, and construction schedules live or die by whether the right gear arrives on the right day. That is the problem JATT was built to solve.
Operating from a more than 15,000m2 facility at Laverton North, minutes from the Port of Melbourne, JATT provides a single staging and consolidation point for project cargo. Containers are unpacked on site under the company’s DAFF Approved Arrangement, meaning imported plant, equipment and materials are inspected and cleared within JATT’s own facility rather than sitting at the wharf accruing charges. From there, cargo moves into secure storage — short-term laydown through to long-term warehousing — until the project calls it forward.
That storage capability includes dedicated dangerous goods Class 9 capacity for lithium batteries, an increasingly critical requirement as mine sites electrify and battery energy storage becomes part of nearly every new project. Temperature-controlled storage is also available for heat sensitive equipment and consumables.
On the transport side, JATT runs local metro, regional and interstate linehaul services across the Melbourne–Sydney–Brisbane–Adelaide corridors, from single-pallet freight through to full truckload and dedicated fleet arrangements. Every movement is tracked through the company’s transport management system with electronic proof of delivery. All operations are run under a fully documented chain of responsibility framework aligned to NHVR requirements — the compliance standard resources procurement teams expect from their supply chain partners.
Founded in 2001, JATT has spent 25 years building the systems and certifications that project logistics demands: HACCP certification, ISO 9001 quality management, DAFF Approved Arrangement status and import/export establishment approval. The company’s focus is straightforward — one accountable partner from the wharf to the site gate, with full visibility at every step.
For resources businesses staging equipment through Melbourne, consolidating suppliers or looking for a compliant storage and freight partner for the construction phase, JATT’s operations team is ready to talk.
