Minbos Resources (ASX:MNB) has begun a concept study to produce P4, also known as yellow phosphorous, as part of its emerging new energy materials business. To complete the study, Minbos has engaged a Tier 1 global engineering, construction and project management company. This company will undertake a 10-week concept level engineering study for a greenfield P4 production facility in Angola, targeting 20ktpa. P4 is an essential critical mineral in the battery materials supply chain as it is needed to produce lithium hexaflurophosphate, the electrolyte used in lithium-ion batteries. Inca Minerals (ASX:ICG) has signed a tenement sale and purchase agreement with Northwest Iron for the Bramall Hills tenement. Bramall Hills covers a total area of 300km2, comprises of 105 blocks and is highly prospective for lithium with previous historical exploration only ever focusing on uranium, gold and base metals. The application was lodged in March 2023 and is currently pending approval from the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). Once the DMIRS has granted approval, Northwest Iron will transfer its rights, title and interest in Bramall Hills to Inca. First Graphene’s (ASX: FGR) collaborative project with Halocell Energy and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has received a Cooperative Research Centres Project (CRC-P) grant worth $2.02 million. The grant was awarded under round 14 of the Australian Government’s CRC-P collaborative research funding stream and will support the project over three years. The project aims to commercialise ultra-low-cost, flexible perovskite solar cell fabrication using Halocell’s roll-to-roll (R2R) production process at its Wagga Wagga plant. Thiess has been awarded a $240m nickel mining contract with PT Halmahera Sukses Mineral in Central Halmahera, Indonesia. Under the 3.5-year contract, Thiess will deliver full mining operations including mine development, haul road construction, hauling and ore loading. A heat exchanger (800HT) has been successfully installed at Hazer Group’s (ASX:HZR) commercial demonstration plant (CDP). Following successful heat-treatment, the replacement heat exchanger has been shipped to site and successfully installed at the CDP, completing a significant milestone for the project as it approaches mechanical completion. The hot reactor main fabrication assembly is in the final stages, shortly enabling the start of final machining and heat treatment prior to delivery and installation. Hazer confirms that the CDP remains on schedule to begin phase two of its operation ‘hot operations’ to produce hydrogen and graphitic carbon in 2023. Liebherr has deployed a fleet of four T 265 trucks to support onsite validation at a mine site in WA. The trucks have completed comprehensive internal validation of their autonomous haulage solution (AHS) at Liebherr’s Mining Technology Development Centre in the USA. Dudas Minerals (ASX:DUN) has secured two highly prospective gold projects from Horizon Minerals (ASX:HRZ). The two projects — Windanya and Baden-Powell / Scotia — are located within the fertile Bardoc tectonic zone area in WA. They became available due to Horizon’s focus on advancing its Cannon, Penny’s Find and Rose Hill gold projects towards production. The next step in the integration of SP Mining — the mining related business of Schenck acquired by engineering group Sandvik — will see SP Mining entities change their names to reflect their new ownership. Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) has recorded revenue of $4.8b for FY23, up 40% on the prior corresponding period (pcp). Underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was up 71% to $1.8b following strong pricing and increased volumes. These increases were driven by record earnings from both the Mt Marion and Wodgina lithium projects, solid mining services results and an improved contribution from iron ore with higher achieved prices. Statutory net profit after tax was down $107m from the pcp to $244m with the impairment due to a re-estimation of the available ore to be mined at current forecast consensus prices and increased operating costs.
