Bravus Mining and Resources was thrilled to help bring First Nations players from around central and north Queensland together in Rockhampton recently for the annual Warba Wangarunya Rugby League Carnival. The Rockhampton and Townsville-based operator of the Carmichael coal mine, near Clermont in central Queensland, was a major sponsor of the event, hosted each year by Darumbal Community Youth Service. Bowen Tennis Association has scored big with a Bowen Rail Company (BRC) grant to support the development of the region’s next generation of tennis stars. The 95-year-old club was one of four recent grant recipients of Bowen Rail Company’s Community Partnership Program, which supports local not-for-profit organisations and community groups with the purchase of small assets that can make a big difference. Weir awarded $102m (£53m) redefined flowsheet contract for Reko Diq greenfield copper-gold project in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province

The first call-off order of $50m (£26m), which includes both ENDURON® large format High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) and wet screens, will be recognised in Q3 with the remaining orders booked later in 2024 and early 2025. Weir Group (Weir), a global mining technology leader, has been awarded the contract to provide industry-leading energy efficient, sustainable solutions to the Reko Diq copper-gold project, a 50% owned greenfield development by Barrick Gold Corporation (Barrick). The tier one copper project is located in the Chagai district of Balochistan and is targeting first production in 2028 with an estimated mine life of more than 40 years. Bravus Mining and Resources will be cheering up a storm when the Rockhampton Cyclones and Rockets take to Bravus Arena on Saturday (13 April) for the start of the 2024 NBL1 North Season. The owner and operator of the Carmichael mine near Clermont in central Queensland has been a Major Partner of Rockhampton Basketball since 2018. Bravus Mining and Resources head of community Kate Campbell says a ticket to round one against the Townsville Flames and Heat is hot property in the business’ Victoria Parade office. FYI kaolin project approved

FYI Resources’ kaolin project in WA has received formal approval for its Mining Proposal (MP) and Mine Closure Plan (MCP) from the WA Department of Mines. This represents a significant step toward the development of the FYI 100pc-owned ML70/1388 high purity alumina (HPA) project. FYI managing director Roland Hill said that now that this milestone has been reached, the company was waiting on only minor regulatory approvals. “FYI will continue progressing its HPA strategy in anticipation of arranging full project funding and a formal decision to mine from the FYI Board,” he said. The ‘flash flaming’ technique aids in replanting wild seeds by carefully burning off the fluffy appendages that appear on many seeds, which make them difficult to handle and ‘coat’ for large-scale remote restoration.
