Latitude 66 (ASX: LAT) has announced the planned commencement of a drilling program at its Edjudina Project, located in the Laverton region of WA. The planned drilling program will commence in March this year and consists of up to 9,000m of aircore and potentially follow up reverse circulation drilling to test multiple significant gold-in-soil surface anomalies. This follows from previous exploration works completed across the project area, which have shown substantial potential given their scale and proximity to known mineral occurrences and infrastructure. The joint project with researchers from ecology consultancy E2M has provided new information about the habitat and daily movements of the black-throated finch, using an AI-supported radio tracking program. Queensland researchers have mapped the habitat and movements of the black-throated finch in a never-before-seen level of detail, as part of Bravus Mining and Resources commitment to managing the environment. The findings are the latest from a five-year joint research program between Bravus Mining and Resources and researchers from ecology consultancy E2M and have been published in the peer-reviewed and highly respected international scientific journal PLOS One. Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) is set to purchase PanAmerican Silver’s 57.74% stake in Agua de la Falda S.A., a company with exploration tenements in Chile’s Atacama region. The company has also entered a joint venture with Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) to explore and potentially develop Agua de la Falda’s assets. Rio will acquire PanAmerican’s 57.74% stake in Agua for $45m and the grant of new smelter returns royalties. In a game changer for heavy industry, CSIRO and corporate advisor RFC Ambrian have co-founded Hadean Energy to commercialise technology that can significantly reduce hydrogen production costs and industry emissions. Scania’s autonomous trucks make global debut

Scania and Regroup will launch the world’s first fleet of autonomous in-pit mining trucks at the Butcherbird mine in WA’s Pilbara. The fleet of 11 autonomous rigid G 560 8×4 tippers – which will transport manganese ore and waste material – is targeting commencement of operations in 2025. Compared to a traditional mining fleet, these vehicles are expected to deliver improved productivity, reduce carbon intensity through improved fuel efficiency, enhance safety and lower costs.
