Queensland research maps movements and behaviours of black-throated finch

Queensland researchers have mapped the habitat and movements of the black-throated finch in a never-before-seen level of detail, as part of Bravus Mining and Resources commitment to managing the environment. The findings are the latest from a five-year joint research program between Bravus Mining and Resources and researchers from ecology consultancy E2M and have been published in the peer-reviewed and highly respected international scientific journal PLOS One. Latitude 66 (ASX: LAT) has announced the planned commencement of a drilling program at its Edjudina Project, located in the Laverton region of WA. The planned drilling program will commence in March this year and consists of up to 9,000m of aircore and potentially follow up reverse circulation drilling to test multiple significant gold-in-soil surface anomalies. This follows from previous exploration works completed across the project area, which have shown substantial potential given their scale and proximity to known mineral occurrences and infrastructure. The Federal Government has called on China to resolve a standoff involving an Indian ship carrying Australian coal, one of more than 50 currently stranded off the Chinese coast. Trade minister Simon Birmingham raised concerns about the welfare of the Indian seafarers who remained on board, while making a broader appeal to the Chinese government to cease “what seems to be a recurring targeting of some Australian industries”. South32 exits coal to focus on zinc and copper

South32 Limited (ASX: S32) has agreed to sell its Illawarra Metallurgical Coal business for $2.53b ($US1.65 billion) as the miner presses ahead with its strategy to move away from coal to focus on zinc and copper. The BHP spinoff agreed to sell the coal business to an entity owned by Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, building on GEAR’s metallurgical coal holdings in Australia, in the deal expected to be finalised in H1 FY25.
