Celebrating 30 years of global solutions
Gekko Systems strengthens its commitment to WA
WA has long been at the heart of Australia’s gold industry, making it a natural home for Gekko Systems‘ second Australian office. As Gekko celebrates 30 years of innovation this year, it also recognises the important role its Perth team has played in supporting some of Australia’s most successful gold and critical mineral operations that continue to strengthen partnerships across the state’s mining sector.
Established in 2009, Gekko’s Perth office has become a key hub for technical solution sales, commissioning and aftermarket support, providing local expertise backed by the company’s global capability. Working alongside mining companies throughout WA and Australasia, the team helps operations improve recovery, optimise plant performance and implement innovative mineral processing solutions.
“The true success of Gekko has always been our people,” said Gekko Co-Founder and Chair Elizabeth Lewis-Gray.
“Their expertise, dedication and passion, drive everything we do and form the foundation of our achievements.”
Founded in Ballarat, Victoria, Gekko Systems has grown into a globally recognised leader in mineral processing technology. Proudly Australian-manufactured and designed, Gekko exports its equipment and expertise to more than 50 countries, with agents from Canada to Indonesia, while maintaining a strong commitment to local manufacturing and engineering excellence.
WA is home to about 60% of Australia’s gold resources and has been instrumental in the development and ongoing application of Gekko’s technologies. The Perth office allows the company to work closely with clients across the region, delivering responsive technical support and fostering the collaborative relationships that have become a hallmark of the business.
Gekko Sales and Operations Manager Tim Bell says WA continues to be one of Gekko’s most important regions.
“Having a local team allows us to work closely with our customers, respond quickly and support operations with both proven technologies and new innovations,” he said.
“As we celebrate 30 years, we are excited about continuing to work smarter together with the WA mining industry for many years to come.”
As part of its 30-year milestone, Gekko Systems WA acknowledges the strong partnerships that have helped shape its success in WA’s mining industry. The company recognises the continued trust and support of valued customers. Equally important have been the long-standing relationships with WA’s leading engineering partners whose collaboration has played a key role in delivering innovative processing solutions across the region.
The Gekko philosophy: smarter together
By partnering closely with mining companies, Gekko develops customised solutions that improve profitability while reducing environmental impacts through greater energy efficiency, pre-concentration and lower water consumption.
One of the company’s longest-standing collaborations has been with a global gold mining company for more than two decades across operations in WA, and around the world.
In WA, Gekko technologies have been successfully deployed at many of their most significant operations, supporting smarter gold recovery through the company’s proven InLine Leach Reactor (ILR) technology.
The WA region has also seen the adoption of Gekko’s InLine Pressure Jig (IPJ) technology in the mid-2000s, and the company’s first Ground Station in 2021, incorporating the OnLine Gold Analyser (OLGA) and Carbon Scout technologies to provide real-time process optimisation to much success.
Rather than simply supplying equipment, Gekko works alongside its customers throughout the life of an operation, providing technical expertise, process optimisation and ongoing innovation that helps maximise long-term value.
With more than 200 InLine Leach Reactors installed globally, Gekko has established itself as one of the mining industry’s leading suppliers of intensive leaching technology, trusted by gold producers worldwide.
Innovation: a key focus
The recently launched Wolff Concentrator is the next generation of gravity concentration, delivering improved fine-gold recovery while reducing energy consumption and supporting recycled water use. Alongside this, the OLGA developed with CSIRO and exclusively commercialised by Gekko, is an on-stream analyser capable of measuring gold in slurries and solutions every 10 minutes, enabling operators to make faster process decisions and minimise gold recovery losses.
Gekko Co-founder and Technical Director Sandy Gray stated the company’s success has always been driven by listening to customers.
“What drives my innovation is delivering customer-led solutions and continuously improving them; this approach has been central to Gekko’s breakthrough technologies, which have helped revolutionise the market, strengthen client relationships and shape our collaborative strategy,” he said.
“By working closely with our clients, we continue to enhance results and reduce environmental impacts for both them and the industry.”
As Gekko celebrates its 30-year milestone, the company remains committed to supporting WA’s gold and critical mineral industry through locally based expertise, Australian manufacturing and globally proven technologies.
Visitors can meet the Gekko Systems team at Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoorlie, at booth 15, on August 3-5 to learn more about the company’s latest innovations and its ongoing investment in the future of mineral processing.
