The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) has announced the finalists for the AMEC Awards, 2024.

Categories cover six key areas as the awards showcase the industries commitment to the environment, diversity and inclusion, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Islander empowerment, contribution to the community and a media story demonstrating clarity, relevance and impact to the industry.

AMEC chief executive Warren Pearce says these awards are a highlight of the association’s calendar year.

“The AMEC awards provide us with an opportunity to reflect, celebrate and acknowledge some of the excellence we see everyday in the exploration and mining industry,” he said.

“An industry that strives to do better everyday, navigate obstacles that appear and innovate to ensure we stay ahead of technological advancements, environmental awareness and workplace health and safety.

“From great exploration discoveries to embracing local communities and encouraging diversity in the workplace, the AMEC Awards continues to shine light on the positive contributions to the industry.”

Finalists include:

Environment Award: Chalice Mining (ASX: CHN), Kimberley Mineral Sands, Metro Mining (ASX: MMI) and Westgold Resources (ASX WGX).

Community Contribution Award: Chalice Mining, Gold Road Resources (ASX: GOR) and Mineral Resources (ASX: MIN).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Award: Global Drone Solutions, JSW Drilling and Thiess.

Diversity and Inclusion Award: De Grey Mining (ASX: DEG), MEC Mining and Westgold Resources.

Media Award: Adrian Rauso – The West Australian, Brad Thompson – AFR, Rachel Riley – The Courier Mail and Rhiannon Shine – ABC 7:30.

Prospector Award: To be announced on the night.
