Victoria’s critical minerals race Victoria has released its new Critical Minerals Roadmap in an effort to bring a new focus to help develop the state’s minerals resources. Victoria has many of the critical minerals needed to produce wind turbines, rechargeable batteries and electric vehicles, including zircon, titanium, rare earth elements and antimony. As part of the roadmap, the Victorian Critical Minerals Coordination Office will be established within Resources Victoria to help to reduce project approval timelines. No more mining at Jabiluka Energy Resources of Australia’s (ASX: ERA) (ERA) lease for the Jabiluka uranium mine in the Northern Territory will not be renewed, based on advice from the Federal Government. ERA applied for a 10-year renewal for the mine, which it previously held for 42 years. A planned Reserved Land area prevents future mineral titles over Jabiluka, according to a May announcement from the Northern Territory Government. BHP invests $840m in Olympic Dam BHP (ASX: BHP) is investing in a series of growth-enabling projects at Olympic Dam in a move to strengthen the foundations of underground mining productivity.
