FOLLOWING months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the Bronzewing gold project, Metaliko Resources has entered an agreement to acquire the project from the administrator of Navigator Resources. Metaliko entered a $4.82 million deal to purchase all of the shares in Navigator Bronzewing – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navigator Resources – resulting in 100 per cent ownership of the Bronzewing project in the south Yandal gold belt of WA. Navigator produced gold from the project until May 2013, when the operations were put under care and maintenance. Critical minerals a focus for latest round of Tasmanian drilling exploration grants program Successful applicants under the latest round of Tasmania’s drilling exploration grants program have been announced. Beginning in 2018, the grants program encourages and supports industry and investors to identify new and potentially lucrative greenfield mining opportunities as well as the re-examination of existing mine or mining lease sites. It provides up to $50,000 for direct drilling costs and $20,000 for helicopter support, if required, for successful applicants to undertake mineral exploration. Initial testwork demonstrates up to 99% gold recovery at McTavish East Initial testwork has demonstrated recoveries of up to 99% at the McTavish East prospect within the Kookynie gold project in WA. Carnavale Resources (ASX:CAV) completed initial leach test work over McTavish East with samples collected from aircore drilling completed in September 2022 and reverse circulation drilling completed in May 2023. A total of 16 200-250gm ore grade samples were taken and leach tested for 24 hours. Samples were selected from both oxide and fresh rock material, with recoveries in the oxide totalling 99% and between 97% and 99% in the fresh rock. APPROVAL to develop one of Australia’s largest coal deposits has been met with dissent from Traditional Owners amid claims mining would destroy local heritage sites. Whitehaven Coal received final approval for its $767 million Maules Creek project in NSW last month, and immediately began site preparation works. However on 8 July, Gomeroi Traditional Owners and non-Aboriginal community members staged a protest outside Whitehaven’s Boggabri office, alleging the company had undertaken an incomplete and disrespectful cultural heritage process.
