Super Pit sees arrival of new Liebherr fleet

In February of this year, Leibherr-Australia, on behalf of Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST), commissioned five PR 776 dozers.

These five dozers are the first of thirteen brand-new Liebherr machines to be acquired by Northern Star at their notorious Super Pit gold mine located near Kalgoorlie, WA.

Liebherr-Australia will also supply two more PR 776 dozers, five R 9150 excavators and an R 9400 excavator to the company.

This commissioning of these machines grows the number of existing Lieberr machines in Northern Star’s current fleet to seventeen. Northern Star began acquiring Liebherr machines in 2022, the first machine being an R 9400 excavator.

Liebherr-Australia’s operations manager for WA Daniel Law-Davis says that to accommodate for the company’s growing presence in WA, Liebherr-Australia is set to double their operations.

“Our investment in the Kalgoorlie branch highlights our growing commitment to the region and to supporting the gold mining industry,” he said.

“The Kalgoorlie branch supports mining companies in the region with its comprehensive range of spare parts, its tooling capabilities and its dedicated team of customer service personnel.

“In fact, the excellent service provided by our Kalgoorlie team was an important factor for our customers who choose Liebherr machines for their operations.”

Liebherr-Australia has seen massive expansion at its Perth facility. This included the addition of two new workshops, a three-storey office, an extended service workshop and a new parts warehouse.

Executive general manager of sales for Liebherr-Australia Brian Boitano says that the company is excited to see these machines drive efficiency and increase safety in upcoming years.

Liebherr-Australia has also recently celebrated a new partnership with Australian-based mining service provider, Mineco. This saw the commissioning of a brand-new R 9150 excavator set to work at the Mount Arthur coal mine in NSW.
