Expert machining
For applications requiring the machining of critical mounting surfaces, FMT’s portable milling machines offer unmatched flexibility and precision. The three-axis milling machine range is engineered for accuracy, rigidity and versatility, enabling efficient material removal and operation in virtually any position.
The lineup begins with the SJP series, a highly adaptable solution offering bed travel options ranging from 500 – 2000mm, with configurable gantry setups for larger applications.
At the upper end, the LM6000 linear milling machine delivers up to 3040mm of X-axis travel and 844mm on the Y-axis, providing high torque and performance for demanding machining tasks.
FMT is trusted with precision restoration of large-scale components, such as mining shovel car bodies including Caterpillar 7495 side frames and shear ledge surfaces. The LM6000 linear mill and CM6200 circular mill are also widely used for machining rail pads, metal shredder components and slew ring seating surfaces.
FMT’s circular milling systems are engineered for large-diameter machining applications, including wind towers and crane bases. With a machining range from 1867 – 5054mm, these systems deliver fast, accurate and reliable performance in both field and workshop environments.
Additionally, FMT’s FF-7200 and FF-8200 flange facers can be configured for circular milling, offering further versatility for specialised applications.
For on-site shaft machining, FMT’s key mills provide a fast and cost-effective alternative to outsourcing. Designed for portability and precision, these machines allow operators to machine keyways directly on large shafts — eliminating transport delays and reducing downtime. Available in two and three-axis configurations, they can cut keyways, slots, pockets and flats on shaft diameters ranging from 35 – 200mm.
Built for demanding environments, FMT’s key mills feature sealed gearbox lubrication, enabling reliable operation in horizontal, vertical or overhead positions. This makes them an ideal solution for maintenance, repair and field machining applications where flexibility and performance are critical.
