
Fortescue teams with Scania for autonomous mining road train, launches new Pilbara community funding
Scania and Fortescue (ASX: FMG) will jointly develop and validate a fully integrated autonomous road train solution for the iron ore miner’s Christmas Creek operation in WA. With Scania’s technology in truck automation, the autonomous solution will be integrated with Fortescue’s Fleet Management System (FMS) to optimise fleet utilisation, maximise productivity, as well as ensure efficient fuel and energy consumption. The solution will also integrate Scania’s onboard autonomation hardware and technology for the Scania R770 prime mover platform, coupled with three trailers weighing 120t with a payload of 24t.
