Engineering company Monadelphous (ASX:MND) has secured $170m worth of new construction and maintenance contracts and contract extensions in the resources sector.   Monadelphous has been awarded a construction contract with Lynas Rare Earths (ASX:LYC) for stage one of the Mt Weld expansion project in WA. The scope of work includes structural, mechanical and piping works associated with the new construction facility. The company has also secured a multidisciplinary construction contract to undertake a series of upgrades at Fortescue’s (ASX:FMG) Anderson Point iron ore stockyard in Port Hedland, WA. Rio Tinto appoints Jérôme Pécresse as aluminium chief executive Jérôme Pécresse has been appointed aluminium chief executive of Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO), effective October 23, 2023. With over 30 years of business experience in global companies spanning the mining and energy sectors, up until recently, Mr Pécresse was president and chief executive of General Electric (GE) Renewable Energy. He joined GE in 2015 after the company completed its acquisition of Alstom’s energy activities. At Alstom, he also led the company’s renewable energy business.
