MATO Australia’s new generation conveyor belt cleaners
Australian mining and materials handling sites face increasing pressure to maintain cleaner, safer and more efficient conveyor systems — without compromising uptime or blowing out maintenance budgets.
That’s where MATO Australia continues to lead.
MATO Australia has recently released two new belt cleaning products designed to lift system performance and reduce cleaning-related downtime across the board. The MATO MDP Polyurethane Primary Belt Cleaner and the MATO MUS2 Secondary Belt Cleaner are engineered to remove up to 90 – 95% of carryback, helping sites operate cleaner, safer and more efficiently.
MDP Primary Cleaner — robust and belt-friendly
The MDP Polyurethane Primary Belt Cleaner is designed to tackle bulk carryback at the source — aggressively cleaning the head drum while remaining gentle on the conveyor belt surface. Its durable polyurethane blade returns carryback to the material flow, supporting cleaner transfers and reduced build-up on return rollers.
To suit different site layouts and applications, the MDP offers two tensioning assembly options:
- CS1 Compression Spring Assembly with angle mounting: a compact, all-in-one solution for straightforward installations.
- CS2 Plate Mount Assembly: allowing multiple mounting positions around the head pulley for areas with limited space or access restrictions.
Both options ensure constant, even blade pressure across the belt surface, which is a critical factor in consistent cleaning performance.
MUS2 Secondary Cleaner — smarter maintenance, longer life
For fine cleaning and follow-up after the head pulley, MATO has developed the all-new MUS2 Secondary Belt Cleaner. This cleaner introduces the innovative M-TRAK slide-on cushion and blade system, which enables easy installation and maintenance without the need for special tools or intensive training.
The M-TRAK design ensures blades are perfectly aligned across the belt width, reducing uneven wear and helping to extend blade life.
Its parallelogram-inspired cushion geometry maintains a true attacking angle throughout the cleaner’s life, improving consistency and minimising material build-up.
Paired with MATO’s compression spring tensioned end assemblies, the MUS2 delivers:
- Simple, slide-on blade replacement
- Faster servicing with no need to disassemble the full cleaner
- Constant pressure for optimal cleaning
- Extended component lifespan under tough mining conditions
Designed for performance, built for ease
“The MDP and MUS2 are the result of years of refinement and listening to what site maintenance teams really need,” MATO Australia general manager David Gilbert said.
“We’ve focused on delivering cleaners that are effective, easy to install, and even easier to maintain. The M-TRAK system in particular is a real leap forward in serviceability — a true ‘quick-change’ approach with no nuts and bolts, making it easily accessible and fast to maintain.”
Both products reflect MATO’s wider design philosophy: reliable cleaning systems that fit real conveyor layouts, reduce manual handling and stand up to heavy use.
