BHP contributes $52.9b to Australian economy in FY24 It’s been revealed that mining giant BHP (ASX: BHP) contributed $52.9b in economic value to Australia in FY24 through wages, dividends, payments to suppliers, investments, taxes and royalties. CANADIAN precious metals company Osisko Mining has formally rejected a “hostile” takeover bid by fellow Canadian gold producer Goldcorp, labelling the move ‘opportunistic” and “inadequate”. In mid January, Vancouver-based Goldcorp announced it had placed an offer to acquire all outstanding common shares from Osisko, filing a takeover bid circular document with Canadian securities regulators and the US Securities Exchange Commission. Under the terms of the offer, Osisko shareholders would have received 0.146 of a Goldcorp common share, plus CAD$2.26 in cash for each Osisko common share tendered. BURGEONING gold producer Doray Minerals will accelerate test drilling at its high grade Andy Well project in WA’s Murchison Region, following the completion of a $17 million fundraising placement. The placement, totalling 21 million fully paid ordinary shares at $0.80 per share, was made available to investors in late January, following promising results from the Suzi and Judy zones within Andy Well. According to Doray reports, the share placement was “heavily oversubscribed”, with the issue price representing a 6 per cent discount from the company’s 10 day volume-weighted average price.
