At this year’s MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® mining exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada, Liebherr has shared its latest products, services and innovations.

T 264 battery haul truck

In partnership with Fortescue (ASX: FMG), Liebherr has unveiled the very first autonomous battery-electric T 264 haul truck, representing the culmination of years of work between the two companies.

The T 264 haul truck has a 3.2Mwh battery – developed by Fortescue Zero – plus electric shovels and wheel loaders, a 2700hp engine and 4425hp electric wheel motors.

A static charging solution was developed alongside the truck and it includes an automated quick charger of up to 6MW with a megawatt charging system that can charge the vehicle in 12 – 58 minutes.

The tyres on the T 264 are Michelin 50/80R57 XDR 4 SPEED ENERGY™ – the first energy efficient tyre for the mining industry.

These tyres are made with a new energy-saving rubber compound and have an optimised tread with increased flexibility.

When a vehicle with these tyres carries a load and operates of various terrains, the tyre deforms and flexes, generating heat that results in energy loss and requires the vehicle to exert more effort to move forward.

Onsite validation of the T 264 haul truck will begin at the end of 2025.

PR 776 G8 dozer

Liebherr also released its latest generation 70t dozer at the exhibition, the PR 776 G8.

The dozer has best-in-class efficiency, with the operator assistance systems further boosting performance and productivity.

The combination of hydrostatic transmission and the Liebherr D9512 engine offers the lowest hourly fuel burn across the company’s 70t dozer class.

This dozer class is designed for tough mining and extraction operations, and delivers a smooth ride with precise blade control.

LRT 1100-2.1 rough-terrain crane

The LRT 1100-2.1 rough terrain crane focuses on safety (for both the operator and environment) and it has outrigger monitors that automatically detect the support status of the crane and save it into the crane’s controller.

The standard VarioBase® variable support base of the crane further optimises safety by enhancing flexibility on site and increasing the crane’s lifting capacity.

It also features a telescopic boom which can be extended independently with a single cylinder and then pinned to the telescopic section above.

Innovation Lab

Liebherr showcased a new technological concept at its Innovation Lab, the Liebherr Power Rail.

The Liebherr Power Rail is based on the company’s trolley bar technology which connects the truck drive system to an overhead power line on uphill haulage segments to drive with electric power and it’s designed to encourage the growth of zero emission haulage fleets.

IoMine

Liebherr used MINExpo to launch its expanded technology portfolio, IoMine, with the products split into three distinct product families related to a specific aspect of mining operations: operate, automate and maintain.

Operate products are designed to streamline and improve day-to-day mining activities, automate products provide full and semi-autonomous solutions, and maintain products are designed to streamline issue resolution for onsite personnel.
