Mineral Resources’ (ASX: MIN) MC driver training program has celebrated the 100th candidate participating in the initiative.

Beginning in October 2023, the program upskills people with an existing multi combination (MC) truck licence with the skills and knowledge to drive 330t quad road trains.

The program has a 93% retention rate and graduates are placed at Mineral Resources and client sites across the Pilbara and Goldfields regions.

The 100th participant Kelly Mottan says it’s a dream come true to have the opportunity to upskill and drive 330t payloads.

“I’ve previously worked in the mining and logistics industry and after driving dump trucks I knew the next thing I wanted to do is drive quad road trains,” she said.

“I saw the job advertised and I knew it was a company I wanted to work for with their innovative approach and investment in resort-style accommodation.

“It’s great to see women out there breaking down the barriers. For anyone considering it, I would say do for it – you have everything in front of you.”

The program was introduced to meet the huge demand for heavy haulage truck drivers across WA and Queensland.

It’s tailored to each individual’s experience, with training including vehicle pre-start inspections, daily safety checks, driving on the haul road, operating the side tipper trailers, radio communications and much more.

MC drivers are able to progress to a fully-fledged MC driver within six months of commencing the program.
