With many modern vehicles coming into service with lower GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) 6×6 AUSTRALIA Pty Ltd have created a solution that offers tremendously improved

pay-loads with highly-safe and stable performance outcomes in the vehicle’s steering and ride handling department.

Driving on a remote mine-site requires full confidence in handling over rough terrain, as well as the ability to carry all the necessary kit.

6×6 provides effective solutions to the various requirements in Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) capacities and in tractability upgrades for all potential applications in both on-road and/or off-road uses.

6×6 Australia has the highest levels of legal payload in the market.

CEO and owner, Bob James, has been designing and building bogie-drive (6×6) conversions on light commercial automotive chassis’ for well over 30 years and has developed suspension & driveline technologies to keep ahead of the field well into the future.

Bob is currently prototyping 4 new models and 6×6 Australia is recognised as a leader in all-terrain vehicle conversions in Australia.

The company’s unique vehicles are now recognised internationally, with clients in mining, tourism, agriculture, recreational markets and defence. These vehicles allow self-reliance in remote exploration works due to the enormous capacity for loads and crossing the most severe terrain in total safety and comfort.

Advanced Traction and Handling

The Bogie-drive Load-share suspension and driveline systems work together to provide some phenomenally advanced traction from the extreme wheel articulation, which creates a vehicle that navigates and manoeuvres in the harshest driving conditions and provides a high level of safety to boot.

Their standard installation is described as 6 x 6’s Load-Sharing, Coil Spring, Roll-Steering, Bogie-Drive Suspension & Driveline systems with Drive-Through Diff and Integrated Power-divider built using the legendary Ford 9.5? or 10.0? diff gear sets with heavy duty custom axle shafts, plus a genuine ‘ARB Air Locker’ diff lock as standard across all models, giving the ultimate traction at any location needed.

The 6×6 Bogie-drive suspension has been designed to avoid the issue of tyre scrubbing or excessive tyre wear which is created by lack of communication between the axles.

Effective applied loadshare is important for both operator safety and life-cycle of the vehicle. Tyre wear is also greatly reduced.

6×6 Australia’s Coil Spring Suspension incorporates a mechanically integrated roll-steer function.  This allows the rear axles to both steer under physical force from the payload as the vehicle corners, combining the dynamic effects of gravity and centrifugal forces to help the vehicle turn easily, which also greatly increases tyre life. This roll-steering feature is very subtle and is a master feat of engineering.

Fully Compliant across Australia

The company’s highly-advanced suspension & driveline system upgrades have been designed and prototyped on-site by the team at 6×6 and are all fully ADR-compliant.

Extensive testing is conducted to achieve certification and accomplish Federally licenced ID Plate Approvals (IPA) for all modification works.

This means the vehicle can be registered in any State or Territory without acquiring a new Engineer’s Report.

All 6×6 IPA plates stay on the vehicle for the life of the conversion.

The 6×6 Australia system has been perfected over the years since 1984 and the basic design is still working perfectly, though constant refinements are undertaken to keep ahead of the pack.

Custom Builds

6×6 Australia is Federally and State Licensed to provide a range of body shop services, including custom built and bespoke automobile conversions.

It applies high level expertise to custom-built chassis, differential assemblies, and other drive-line and bespoke bodywork enhancements, all with remarkable style and inherent reliability.

6×6 Australia holds Federal Design and Production Facility license allowing them to prototype and design and test new vehicles with full Federal support.

Three main automotive vehicle modification types are available: Chassis and suspension systems, drive-line systems and bodyworks.

An on-site Professional Mechanical Engineer Signatory is available to inspect and certify the modification for any project build.
