PLS’ pioneering employee health monitoring

PLS (ASX: PLS) has partnered with Tibi Healthcare to deliver onsite health monitoring services for employees at its Pilgangoora operation in the Pilbara region of WA.
The industry-first initiative brings state-of-the-art mobile medical facilities to site, ensuring accessible healthcare services for PLS workers in remote working environments.
The mobile medical service is equipped with a low dose computed tomography scanner (LDCT) which allows for the early detection of lung conditions and heart disease.
Personnel are assessed and referred for on-site screening based on individual exposure history and in consultation with an occupational physician.
PLS chief operations officer Brett McFadgen says the partnership sets a new standard for workforce health monitoring in the mining industry.
“Remote operations shouldn’t compromise healthcare access,” he said.
“By bringing medical services directly to site, we’re removing barriers to healthcare monitoring services.”
Instead of requiring employees to travel to medical appointments in Perth outside of work hours, the mobile service allows assessments to occur on site while staff are on shift.
This proactive approach enables the company to safeguard employee health and wellbeing through early detection and management.
Tibi Healthcare chief executive Dr Nell Gillett says the initiative is more than a health service — it’s a commitment to the health and wellbeing of every worker.
“Our mobile health units are designed to meet the unique challenges of remote work environments,” she said.
“By bringing diagnostics and early screening onsite, we’re closing the gap between risk and response.”
