HP & CP Australia’s electrifying expansion
HP & CP Australia is an Australian owned business, providing services in the electrical switchboard industry with over 40 years’ experience.
The company is proud of its reputation for manufacturing quality electrical switchboards, complying to AS/NZS 61439 Standards. HP & CP products adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures aligned with ISO9001 Quality Management Systems. HP & CP specialises in design and manufacture for a wide range of markets, including mining, utilities, defence, infrastructure, medical and aged care, education, renewable, industrial and commercial industries.
HP & CP director Michael Pereira says one of the drivers of the company’s success is that the team goes out in the field to understand the specialist needs of particular sectors, so HP & CP can immediately add value to the briefs it gets.
“We aim to develop partnerships with quality sectors and companies whose business we then dedicate ourselves to understand in depth,” he said.
“Rather than going for one-off jobs, we prefer partnerships and accreditations of enduring value to customers who are focused on quality, ongoing service and compliance.
“Our aim is to develop and implement design briefs to the customer’s highest specifications and expectations, and to design customised technology that ideally meets these needs fully and exceeds it where we have developed the knowledge to produce the optimum solution.”
Industry proven
HP & CP has made good on this mission, with its work on mining projects for Anglo American, BHP, ExxonMobil, Glencore, Peabody Energy, South32 and Stanmore, to name a few.
At the BMA Saraji mine in Queensland, HP & CP was responsible for delivering various switchboard projects meeting the extensive electrical specifications while maintaining compliance to the Australia Standards and Mining Electrical Safety Regulations. The electrical switchboards provided by HP & CP have proven to be of exceptional quality and reliability, meeting the rigorous demands of BMA’s coal mining operations.
At Glencore’s Oaky Creek coal mine in Queensland, HP & CP delivered a pump station MSB. This switchboard was compliant to AS61439.1 and features 3200A, 50kA/sec in a IP56 switchboard enclosure with earth leakage protected feeders and an extra low voltage PLC section which included remote monitoring and operation.
At Exxon Mobil’s LNG Angore Camp in Papua New Guinea, HP & CP delivered remote switchrooms with Main Switchboards and field Distribution Boards. The project involved a 3200A main switchboard, powered by several generators, operating with generator synchronisation at the main switchboard. Downstream were several heavy duty 316 stainless steel IP66 distribution boards to provide energy for lighting, power and ancillary services throughout the rest of the facility.
