For the next generation of mining

Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Expo

Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX), an internationally renowned event, is returning to South Australia on September 23-25.

With its history of supporting developments in the industry, AIMEX offers unparalleled opportunities to connect with Australia’s largest community of mining suppliers and professionals in an environment that stimulates innovation and collaboration.

Thousands of mining delegates from across the country and around the world will convene in Adelaide for three days of informative and engaging presentations across AIMEX’s conference stages.

Held alongside the expansive AIMEX exhibition floor, the 2025 conference will bring together policymakers, producers, innovators and experts for a packed agenda covering safety, sustainability, emerging technologies and the future of critical commodities.

AIMEX will now call South Australia home for the next 10 years in a move that marks an exciting new chapter for the event and the region’s resource sector, with the state leading the way in future-focused mining.

The new phase of AIMEX brings an expanded floorplan with outdoor availability and new verticals including Transformative Technology and the Research and Development Hub.

With a diverse lineup and strong speaker participation from across government, industry and research, this year’s program is set to deliver unmatched value to mining professionals at all levels.

Prime Creative Media mining event marketing manager Rebecca Todesco says AIMEX’S conference program brings together the voices and topics that matter most to the industry.

“With input from government, producers, researchers, and major industry players, the AIMEX 2025 program offers three days of real insight, practical takeaways, and future-focused conversation.”

The program kicks off with an official address from South Australian Mining Minister Tom Koutsantonis and key representatives from the national industry sharing their insight on sector trends and challenges.

This year’s panels explore key themes including safety and workforce resilience, sustainability and decarbonisation, green iron and copper, higher education and skills, technology and autonomous innovation as well as uranium, emerging commodities and minerals processing.

Opening the series of panels at this year’s event, Safety reimagined: the future of safety standards panellists will explore the role of evolving safety standards and technologies in reshaping risk management and how the industry can stay ahead of regulatory changes.

Day one also features a keynote address from Royal Flying Doctor Service strategy, brand and reputation executive general manager Charlie Paterson and a collaborative presentation between Hitachi and Bengal Mining Company highlighting key milestones in the companies’ digital evolutions.

Closing out the first day, the Building the workforce of the future panel explores how companies are preparing for the future by investing in workforce development, diversity and digital capability — from attracting the next generation of talent to upskilling for automation and fostering inclusive cultures, discover the strategies shaping a resilient, future-ready mining workforce.

AIMEX’s second day brings major focus to the future of green steelmaking and Australia’s role in fuelling global nuclear demand.

Day two opens with a spotlight session with BHP group procurement officer Rashpal Bhatti, exploring how BHP approaches procurement at scale — navigating geopolitical shifts, driving sustainability through supplier partnerships and ensuring resilience across a vast, interconnected network.

Tertiary institutions are playing an increasingly vital role in shaping the future of mining — driving cutting-edge research, accelerating technology development and preparing a skilled, adaptable workforce. In the panel titled Higher education — upskilling the next generation of miners, panellists will discuss how higher education is positioned at the intersection of innovation and workforce readiness in a rapidly changing global landscape.

In recent years, South Australia has emerged as a premier copper jurisdiction — holding two thirds of Australia’s copper resources. Copper’s critical role: powering a decarbonised future panellists, including a BHP representative, will explore the metal’s growing importance amid global decarbonisation, the ongoing trends and challenges affecting the industry and the innovation shaping the future of mining.

A keynote address from Partners in Performance chairman Mitchell H. Hooke, titled The future of mining in an increasingly fractured world, closes out the second action packed day.

The final day shines a spotlight on South Australia’s emerging projects, bulk materials handling and hidden operational challenges across the sector.

Magnetite Mines (ASX: MGT) managing director Tim Dobson will open the third day at the main stage in a spotlight session highlighting how Magnetite Mines is unlocking the potential of the state’s rich iron ore resources through its flagship Razorback iron ore project. Delegates will gain insights from Mr Dobson into project development, market demand for green steel inputs and the broader role the company is playing in the future of decarbonised steelmaking.

A representative from Boss Energy, Australia’s leading uranium developer, will divulge the company’s strategic approach to restarting production at the Honeymoon uranium project, its commitment to responsible resource development and its role in supporting the global clean energy transition.

Closing out the informative sessions at the main stage is the Bulk materials handling: flow, wear and conveyor component selection presentation from a team of experts at Tunra Bulk Solids. This presentation provides practical insights into key challenges and solutions in bulk materials handling across mining operations, including, material flow property testing and how it informs the design of hoppers and chutes to prevent common issues such as blockages and poor discharge.

At AIMEX, delegates will shake hands with people who matter, make deals that move the needle and walk away with excessive leads, connections and opportunities.

AIMEX presents an abundance of premier networking events throughout the expansive conference — giving attendees an advantageous opportunity to expand industry connections.

The welcome event, sponsored by Motion, kicks off AIMEX with a vibrant evening of networking, providing a chance for delegates to come together, rekindle existing relationships and forge new connections, before the exhibition officially opens.

Sponsored by Tricab and run at the conclusion of the first day of AIMEX, the networking evening is the perfect opportunity for delegates to build relationships with potential clients and peers, exchange knowledge and connect with industry and the community.

The highly anticipated Australian Mining Prospect Awards, for the first time in history, will be moving to South Australia to coincide with day two of AIMEX. Across a night of glitz and glamour, the Prospect Awards will recognise and celebrate the excellence and success of the companies and individuals across the sector.

AIMEX also features an innovation stage, where presentations will be given from industry forward thinkers, and a transformative technology showcase showcasing trailblazing technology and digital solutions advancing the resources industry.
