Austmine has launched a new student internship program to provide science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) third and fourth-year university students, as well as masters students, with paid internships.

For a minimum of 10 weeks of the summer university vacation period, students will get a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the STEM industries and develop key skills.

The internships are part of Austmine’s accelerating women in METS program which accelerates female recruitment and retention in the mining equipment, technology and services (METS) industry through connections of mentors, coaches and internships.

The are currently more than 50 internship positions available from over 40 companies including WesTrac, IMDEX, Thiess, Techenomics Australia and Komatsu. Positions are available all throughout Australia.

Applications are open and close in July.

Austmine’s student program features an exclusive webinar series that showcases innovations in the METS sector and highlights the range of career opportunities available.

Each of the four webinars is hosted by successful women working in corporate STEM roles or as entrepreneurs.

Following the webinars, participants will be able to connect with these women in small group mentoring sessions where they will hear insights into the METS industry.

Applications for the webinars and mentoring program will be available for registrations in July 2023 with any STEM university student identifying as female eligible to register.
