Liebherr and Glencore’s partnership grows

In August, Liebherr-Australia finalised multiple equipment supply agreements with Glencore across six of its Australian operations.
These agreements will see Liebherr-Australia deliver 17 machines across some if Glencore’s major mining operations in Queensland and NSW by the end of 2026 as part of the first phase of this ongoing partnership.
Of the 17 machines in this phase, seven have already been successfully commissioned across Glencore’s sites, which has resulted in important milestones achieved at three of them.
Delivery of these initial machines will mark a key milestone for Liebherr-Australia, with the delivery of two R 9600 excavators to Hail Creek mine in Queensland marking the company’s first ever equipment at the operation.
In NSW, Liebherr-Australia also delivered the first ever Liebherr excavators at Ravensworth and put into operation new Liebherr machines at United Wambo mine.
Liebherr-Australia sales, marketing, training and solutions executive general manager Brian Boitano says the company is excited to announce this new era of partnership with Glencore.
“Securing multi-year supply agreements of this scale is a proud moment for Liebherr-Australia,” he said.
“It reflects the capability of our national team to support large, complex fleets and deliver consistent performance across multiple sites.”
In addition to the initial 17 machine, further units are set to be delivered in both Queensland and NSW throughout 2027 as part of the ongoing agreement with Glencore.
The partnership with Glencore builds on Liebherr-Australia’s already established presence in the Hunter Valley region of NSW and the Bowen Basin in Queensland.
Glencore Australia coal assets procurement specialist Alex Callaghan says he partnership reflects its ongoing commitment to improving operational efficiency and safety.
‘Our collaboration with Liebherr represents a strategic move towards enhancing our operational capabilities,” he said.
Liebherr-Australia will provide dedicated site support, including embedded technicians and comprehensive operator and technical training, to ensure the long-term success of the machines.
