MinRes delivers much more than ore for FY24

Mineral Resources (MinRes) (ASX: MIN) reports one of the best development years in its history, headlined by the launch of Onslow iron in the Pilbara region of WA.
The company has released its 2024 Annual Reporting Suite, including its annual and sustainability report, highlighting the company’s achievements and performance over the past financial year.
In addition to the delivery of first ore on ship from Onslow iron in May 2024, MinRes made major moves in WA lithium, with record production at Mt Marion and Wodgina and the completion of the Bald Hill acquisition.
The 2024 Sustainability Report outlines MinRes’ commitment to operating responsibly, building a safe and diverse workforce and prioritising sustainability.
In an effort to foster safety and wellbeing, the company introduced the Mind Matters team — seven highly qualified mental health clinicians based across sites and offices.
MinRes has also spent more than $68m with Indigenous Australian businesses, representing an increase of more than 180% compared to FY23.
Female representation on the MinRes Board also increased to 56%, while female participation at manager levels and above increased to 18%.
MinRes managing director Chris Ellison says despite challenging external environments, the company’s achievements over the past financial year are to be commended.
“The past 12 months have demonstrated the essence of our MinRes culture — innovative thinking, a can-do mindset, grasping opportunity where others can’t and focusing on the value in our people,” he said.
“Whether it’s industry-leading mining services, world-class commodities projects or workplaces that set new industry standards, MinRes remains well placed to continue delivering long term returns for our shareholders, people and the communities where we operate.”
MinRes will continue to give back to the communities it operates in, with more than $8m and 125 community organisations supported through its social investment program in FY24.
The company is expanding opportunities across its operations, including the extension its successful partnership with disability service and employment provider, Workpower, at Onslow iron.
Workpower has been providing services for MinRes’ Yilgarn operations since 2023 and off the back of their successful work, has started to provide specialist invasive and weed management services at Onslow iron.
A team of four will work on the Onslow iron weed management project, which spans the Onslow and Ken’s Bore sites.
The contract with Workpower has also previously included weed control, mapping and reporting at MinRes’ Yilgarn, Mt Marion and Carina operations and plant installation of 74,000 seedlings at Parker Range.
MinRes environment principal Nathaniel Constable says the Workpower partnership balances commercial competitiveness with the capacity to assist dynamic compliance commitments and alignment of values.
“At MinRes’ Yilgarn and Mount Marion operations, Workpower has carried out multiple environmental projects in line with company contractor management and safety procedures, supporting the operational approvals commitments to a consistently high standard,” he said.
“We’re proud to have Workpower continue working with MinRes.”
Workpower chief executive Lee Broomhall says the team at Workpower Environmental Services is looking forward to more success with MinRes.
“With decades of experience in the resources sector both locally and internationally, we look forward to further delivering exceptional environmental services across MinRes sites,” she said.
“We exist to create employment opportunities for people with disability through our diverse businesses offering a variety of roles in WA, empowering individuals with disability to grow their careers.
“Our environmental services business and native plant nursery are just two examples of these businesses.”
Workpower’s Kalgoorlie site was also grateful to recently receive a MinRes community grant, which supported the purchase of equipment and resources to set up a sensory room for its school holiday program specifically designed for children with disability.
