Mineral Resources marks milestone at Onslow Iron project

Mineral Resources has announced a successful first blast at Cardo Bore East deposit.

Mineral Resources (MinRes) (ASX: MIN) has had a successful first blast at the Cardo Bore East deposit located in the in the West Pilbara region, WA.

The deposit is located 12km south of a larger deposit within the Onslow Iron project, the Ken’s Bore mine site.

Cardo Bore East will support the project’s anticipated production increase of up to 35 million tonnes per annum.

Following a successful first blast and targeted drilling program, an increase in works to prepare the site for further mining and haulage activity has commenced.

Cardo Bore East is projected to deliver another high-grade iron ore producing deposit. CSI Mining Services is currently constructing a private haul road to connect the deposit to the Ken’s Bore crushing and processing facility.

MinRes executive general manager for Onslow Iron Mike Tonkin said that the success of the first blast at Cardo Bore East was a positive step forward for the project.

“This is the latest important milestone in the development of the Onslow Iron project,” Mr. Tonkin said.

“Alongside our current mining activities at Ken’s Bore, Cardo Bore East will help support the project’s ramp-up.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this milestone safely and we look forward to progressing operations at the deposit.”

In late January, MinRes marked another milestone with the completion of construction on the final crushing plant and truck load out circuit at Ken’s Bore.

These modular crushers are designed to consume less energy and produce significantly lower dust and noise emissions.
