The tower mill was originally developed in Japan in the 1950s for fine grinding of copper in the mining sector and cutting garnet for polishing glass.
Today it remains a proven and robust energy efficient wet grinding mill, combining both material separation and rapid size reduction in one piece of equipment. This is only possible in vertical agitated mills, which use an agitator screw to efficiently transfer energy to the grinding media. Finer material rises to the top of the vertical mill chamber and is carried out in the overflow slurry.
The Nippon Eirich Group supplier  the Eirich TowerMill (ETM), which is available in sizes from 7 kilowatts to 1120kW of installed power. The ETM also processes between 0.5 and 400 tonnes of solids per hour to achieve product sizes as small as 10 microns from feed sizes up to 10mm. The exact machine size is accurately tailored to each application based on Eirich’s mill sizing methodology and more than 200
installations worldwide. Nippon Eirich’s office in Nagoya, Japan has had tower mill grinding technology since 1999. The company has strengthened its grinding market position recently in China, Australia
and other Southeast Asian countries in response to commodity metal market demands.
