Yancoal Australia (ASX: YAL) has donated $37,000 to Singleton District Hospital in NSW to provide patients with new fall prevention hospital beds.

The joint donation, from Yancoal’s Mount Thorley Warkworth and Ashton Coal mines located in the Hunter Valley region, enabled the purchase of three new beds for general ward use at the hospital.

The new beds offer flexibility for a wide range of patient circumstances, are ergonomic for the healthcare providers, offer increased safety and enable patients to rest in comfort while rehabilitating.

Yancoal Mount Thorley Warkworth general manager Cris Shadbolt says the team is proud to help improve equipment at the hospital.

“Hospitals play a vital role in our community,” he said.

“It is imperative they have high-quality equipment for the benefit of everyone in our area when they need it most.”

Both sites are a critical element of the local Hunter Valley economy, creating jobs for locals and continuously supporting the community.

Singleton United Hospital Auxiliary president Susan Paull says the equipment was a much needed upgrade at the hospital.

“The new beds have features that significantly reduce fall-related incidents and injuries with adjustable height settings and side rails for patient safety which is vital,” she said.

“We are always looking at ways to improve the hospital for the benefit of the community and we are thankful to Ashton Coal and Mount Thorley Warkworth for their donations to help make this project happen.”
