In 2011, National Crane Hire cranes were used to change the Newmont mine’s ball mill to help reduce down time and stoppages.
Careful planning and execution was needed to ensure all cranes were transported to the Newmont operations in one piece. Prior to the job, meetings were held on site regarding execution methods, scheduling, project risk analysis, weather and transportation of the cranes.
After preparation, a CC2200 super-lift crane removed the old ball mill and installed a new ball mill. Each mill shell weighed about 75t.
