A trusted long-term partner of Ulan coal

Mastermyne Group is a specialist contractor in underground coal mining with market-leading capabilities covering strata consolidation, development drivage, outbye and longwall support, technical services and training. Trading under three well-recognised brands — Mastermyne, Wilson Mining and MyneSight — the group is now entering its fourth decade, during which time it has built a strong reputation working with many of the biggest names in the Australian coal sector including Anglo American, Centennial Coal, Fitzroy, Glencore, GM3, Peabody Energy, Whitehaven Coal and Yancoal.
With an integrated service offering that combines capable, experienced people, together with proven systems and high-quality products and equipment, Mastermyne continues to set itself apart. The business is currently active at 15 projects spanning all three major coal regions in NSW and Queensland and guided by its core values — the Mastermyne Keeps —to deliver safe, reliable and long-term value for clients, people and shareholders alike.
At Ulan West mine, Mastermyne has been continuously engaged since first coal production in 2014, delivering Ventilation and Outbye Services. As long-term specialists in Ventilation Control Devices (VCDs), Mastermyne’s dedicated team, led by project manager, Josh Adams, manages and delivers the process from the initial stage of VCD design and supply, right through to final installation and commissioning.
Building on this strong relationship, Mastermyne recently commenced Strata Consolidation works at Ulan Underground to support Glencore’s LW West 8 Panel project. Led by project coordinator, Mitch Irwin, the team has provided strata support, polymeric injection, machine operation and ventilation works — all completed with zero incidents to date, demonstrating the company’s Keep Safe culture. Using Mastermyne’s industry-leading injection system, more than 60 tonnes of Marisil urea silicate have been applied throughout Ulan Underground, ensuring long-term strata stability and safe operations.
Beyond its technical expertise, Mastermyne is proud to be a local employer and an active supporter of the communities in which it operates. By engaging local employees, the company helps sustain regional economies while creating meaningful careers. At the same time, sponsorships of local events and junior sporting clubs provide opportunities for young people to grow, learn and thrive — reflecting Mastermyne’s belief that strong communities build strong industries.
Mastermyne is committed to continuing its collaborative partnership with Glencore to support the ongoing success of the Ulan Coal Complex.
