Luehr Filter has been delivering robust air pollution control solutions to the Australian market since 1982, supported by its longstanding partnership with global leader Luehr Filter GmbH. In 2025, the company celebrates 20 years of dedicated service to Australia’s mining sector — marked by growing revenue and increasing recognition. Luehr’s strength lies in custom-engineered dust control systems tailored to the specific challenges of mining environments and each individual project. Each system is designed to suit site conditions, regulatory requirements, and operational and budget constraints.

“We customise every project,” says managing director Trevor Baud.

“We are not an off-the-shelf type of company. Our designs are tailored each time.”

Luehr Filter’s technological edge — combined with the durability of its equipment, deep dust management expertise, and reliable service — continues to earn the trust of mining companies. These strengths consistently drive repeat business and open new opportunities across the sector, reinforcing Luehr’s reputation as a preferred partner in mining air pollution control.

Two standout technologies highlight Luehr’s advantage: its proprietary oval bag filter system and its reverse air cleaning design. Unlike conventional round filter bags, Luehr’s dust collection bags feature a compact oval shape that is securely positioned at both ends. This design reduces overall equipment size and individual bag weight, while eliminating the risk of bag-to-bag contact that can lead to abrasion and reduced collection efficiency. While the oval bags can be mounted vertically, their unique design also enables horizontal installation, which lowers bag differential pressures and reduces manual handling risks during bag changeouts.

Mining companies have procured dozens of horizontally configured reverse air (no compressed air required) dust collection systems across Australia. Longer bag life, lower emissions, and energy consumption, along with equipment performance and availability, were key factors in their selection.

Luehr Filter dust extraction systems were selected for the Onslow Iron project’s iron ore storage shed, to meet the strict EPA dust emission requirements. Luehr successfully delivered the large reverse air, horizontal bag, dust collection systems and is proud to be associated with this landmark mining operation.Engineering innovation in air pollution control
