From July 6-13, Liontown (ASX: LTR) celebrated NAIDOC week at its Kathleen Valley site in WA with cultural awareness training, knowledge sharing and activities.

Liontown has built strong relationships with the Tjiwarl community as the company’s Kathleen Valley operations are situated on Tjiwarl land in a culturally and environmentally significant region.

At the company’s office in Perth, Senior Tjiwarl Traditional Owner Kado Muir spoke about the cultural significance of Country and the importance of knowledge sharing for future generations. Liontown employees in attendance valued the chance to learn directly from a Traditional Owner and gain insights into Country and culture.

Throughout NAIDOC Week, on-site dinners were also prepared featuring Indigenous flavours and ingredients. The meal rotation included dishes such as lemon myrtle and native pepper leaf hollandaise, native herb damper and kangaroo burgers.

Kathleen Valley personnel also had a chance to create cultural art at a paint and sip evening hosted by Tjiwarl member Rob Binsiar. Continuing the creative streak, the team also learned the art of necklace making with Yvonne Ashwin.

Closing the week of celebrations, musician Henry Ashwin performed at the Dragonfly Pavilion on-site for employees.
