The Hills Rockslinger brings speed, high level accuracy and accessibility to the installation of soil, rocks, mulch at extremely high production levels of one tonne per minute.  This versatile machine has changed the nature of materials placement with its ability to place rock and soil accurately over walls, curbs and other obstacles and project to a distance of 30 – 40 meters beyond the truck location. The Hills Rockslinger increases efficiency in all major earthmoving and mining construction and rehabilitation projects, civil works, landscaping and more.

The Fleet

The Hills Rockslingers fleet currently consists of three machines that are suitable for use in metropolitan regions and one all-terrain machine for hard to access locations, all with remote control capacities for precision installation.

Three bin and arm mounted trucks are suitable for regular roads and are operated in metropolitan and regional locations across Australia from a NSW base.  The Hills Rockslinger Super Track 1 and 2 CAS ST20 14t trucks with 20 Cubic Metres bin volume are the first to be introduced in Australia and have been operating since 2007.  The Hills Rockslinger Super Track 3 carries a 16t pay load and deliver a 40m propulsion of materials while the 14t trucks project to 30m.

The versatile all terrain AT6 services remote and difficult to access sites and is the smallest of the fleet with a 5m3 or 5t pay load.  Operated fully by remote control the AT6 is designed to be floated to site from the Hill’s yard, along with its operator and then set to work.

The Hills Rockslinger reduces waste and increases productivity: filling the Lithgow pipe-line trench.

The Rockslinger

The system is designed for the harshest of materials and operates with any type of substance such as soils, aggregate up to 75mm ballast, mulch or sand varieties providing it is under 100m.  The ST Truck Model Placer is a truck mounted material hopper.  The material is loaded into a V-shaped tunnel and then directed to a 5m conveyor belt.  A supershell, or second 1.5m conveyor belt sits on top of the belt, holding the product in place and preventing the material from rolling back.  This second belt also provides the propulsion and speed of delivery.

The material is funnelled to conveyor belt operated on a moveable arm with can incline up to 450 and rotate up to 2300 allowing extremely precise manoeuvrability and accurate placement of the substances.  The conveyor arm places material at a desired location by accelerating the material from the hopper, along to the end of the conveyor arm, at which point it leaves the conveyor and travels in a constant stream to the intended location.

The moveable arm allows the machine to operate from distances and bypass pavements, safety walls, fences and trenches with complete accuracy.  The material can also be projected up to 30 metres from the Super Track 1 and 2, or 40 metres from the Super Track 3, 16 tonne model.

The machine is operated on a hydraulic pump and controlled remotely.

Adjustable to the nth degree

The system is fully adjustable according to the job.  The type of material, the level of fill, the distance of the desired spot and the desired depth of the layers are pre-entered and then activated via the remote control.  Materials can be unloaded and installed at desired depths while the plant is moving. There is the added ability to increase or decrease the flow rate from the hopper during application.
A gate installed in the track lifts according to the pre-entered figures and distributes the materials according to the type of material.

Highly trained operators

The key to the efficiency of the operation is in the training of the operators.  Hills ensure that all their operators spend time learning the intricacies of the controls until they are completely competent.  Only then are they allowed to move into field work.  The better the operator, the better the finish and the more accurate the pile.  Hills put emphasis on training its operators in order to provide its customers with ultimate satisfaction in the completed job.

Training is not only for efficiency and accuracy, but also ensures safety.  Operating a machine that shoots outs soils and rocks at speed and distance, means that it is important the operators are completely competent in using the controls – all Hills operators are experienced and fully trained to make sure they do not lose control of the machine and cause damage.   For this reason, the Rockslingers are leased on a wet hire basis.  The machines are hired out with operators on a very cost-efficient price structure, which allows a high productivity level and provides clients with complete confidence in the operation.

The Rockslinger places materials precisely and at speed.

Applications

The Hills Rockslinger is a versatile machine with a growing list of applications in Australia, which has taken it beyond landscaping to wind farm, major earthworks, and mining construction projects.

Current projects that the Super Track 1 and 2 are engaged upon is a major wind farm installation in Victoria.  Operating the two trucks simultaneously allows a quicker and reliable production output.  Efficiency in installation ensures that the project will be operational and producing clean energy sooner.  The Rockslinger has also been recently employed in the coal industry for water pipe installation.

The Rockslinger can also be used to expedite rehabilitation projects for completed mining operations, within the diameter limitations of its system.

Stable base, multi material layers

For processes that require a stable and even base, such as tank installation, the Hills Rockslinger is the essential machine for the job. Quite often requiring literally hundreds of tonnes of material, the Hills Rockslinger is ideal for installing this aggregate into place, thanks to the accuracy of positioning, depth programming and the ability to load materials and install during operational procedures. The Rockslinger can be loaded on site for expedited production, spreading hundreds of tonnes of product each day directly into position.

Fuel tanks are positioned strategically underneath the fuel station itself and are required to be absolutely stable at all times once anchored into place, which is ensured by encasing the tanks and surrounding excavation with specified aggregate material.  The Hills Rockslinger have capacity to install Blue Metal 10mm, 14mm, and 20mm Blue Metal quickly and efficiently.

The Hills Rockslingers are suitable for any project that requires installation of materials at certain depths.  It specialises in the building of Bioretention Basins which can quite often require two or more specified layers of aggregate, sand and filtration media.  The function of the fully adjustable controls allows materials to be loaded in while the hopper is operational.  The flow rate can also be increased or decreased at will.

The Rockslinger is also available for installing a wide range of pre-ordered decorative pebbles.

Materials can accurately be propelled up to 40m.

Added Value

The Hills Rockslinger machineshave the advantage of being able to transport materials from point to point without having the need to stockpile, allowing a smaller footprint for the operation.  They are then able to place the materials as well, providing a comprehensive material laying service.

These versatile machine places material from a roadside parking spot across pavements and over curbs or walls to the location, tidily and accurately.  In country or farming locations the materials are deposited from the truck over fences or from a sidewalk over safety installations to building sites.

Materials

All soils, sands and other products such as recycled and quarried products can be supplied by The Hills Rockslinger, or clients can source materials independently.

The Hills Rockslinger machines are superb for spreading sand on playgrounds, new lots, building sites or other installations.  Materials can be supplied from its own range of sand products and Hills operators can provide advice on which type of sand is most suitable for the project.

Quarried materials available directly from Rockslinger include blue metal (10,14,20mm), ballast and crushed sandstone under 75mm diameter, recycled blue metal, recycled concrete agggregate, metal and crusher dust, road bases including recycled.

The Rockslinger trucks excel and provide a unique but effective option for supply, delivery and installation of a range of landscape and building materials.  The fleet of Hills Rockslinger equipment with their high-speed conveyor application machinery have perfected the art of efficiently supplying material to a variety of sites across multiple sectors.
