Australia’s premier mining forum
A world-class three-day experience
The 34th annual Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum will be held at the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie, WA, Australia’s unofficial gold mining capital. Insightful presentations by ASX-listed mining and exploration companies as well as innovative industry exhibitors will be showcased from August 4-6.
The event provides a unique opportunity for industry professionals to meet and network, visit regional mine sites, engage with media, raise finance, invest in projects and generally engage with the resources sector at an executive level in a mining community setting.
Since its conception, Diggers & Dealers has grown astronomically. The inaugural conference, held in 1992, saw only 10 attendees at the Palace Hotel in Kalgoorlie. Now, the event hosts thousands of delegates annually including miners, explorers, investors, financers and mining service industries professionals.
In 2024, the event saw more than 2,700 attendees, affirming its status as a cornerstone gathering for the global mining industry.
This year, the forum will showcase informative corporate presentations by leading listed mining and exploration companies as well as more than 159 exhibitors in an extensive exhibition hall.
Diggers & Dealers chairman Jim Walker says despite the changing landscape, some challenges have remained consistent — chief among them being regulatory barriers.
“Since the 1990s, concerns around red tape delaying project approvals, hindering investment, and driving skilled professionals offshore have been a persistent topic of industry frustration,” he said.
“What has not changed is Australia’s standing as a world leader in mining practice, exploration and funding which is reflected in the calibre of international participation at Diggers & Dealers.
“The 2025 forum includes governments such as Sweden and Saudi Arabia with booths, alongside an above-average number of North American mining companies — all eager to engage with Australian expertise and opportunity.”
The event has historically hosted presentations from major mining names, including Fortescue’s (ASX: FMG) Dr Andrew Forrest and previous AngloGold Ashanti chief executive Mark Cutifani.
This year, key industry players will be weighing in with presentations from Gold Road (ASX: GOR), Gold Fields, Liontown Resources (ASX: LTR) and many more.
Attendees will take part in a star-studded line up of presentations, including lectures from Westgold Resources (ASX: WGX) chief executive and managing director Wayne Bramwell and Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST) chief operating officer Simon Jessop.
“With regard to keynote addresses, our intention has always been to provide a strategic global overview — ensuring attendees get access to this insight to assist forward planning and long-term strategic decisions for their business,” Mr Walker said.
“The blend of macroeconomic insight, commodity market trends and industry foresight remains a hallmark of the event.
“The standout historic keynote from my perspective is [Former Australian Prime Minister] John Howard. He encouraged the sector to be unapologetic about its contributions which I think is a timely reminder of the immense value the resources industry brings to Australia’s economy and national identity and for which we ought to acknowledge and be proud of.”
This year’s keynote presentation will take the form of a panel discussion welcoming highly respected and exceptional keynote speakers to the stage while offering an interactive opportunity for attendees.
Focusing on the future of energy, the panel boasts an exceptional lineup of industry experts and professionals ready to share their invaluable insight. Center for Independent Studies energy research director Aidan Morrison and Canadians for Nuclear Energy president Dr Chris Keefer will both join the panel, moderated by Australian writer and the Centre for Independent Studies executive director Tom Switzer.
Mr Morrison leads crucial research into energy systems from an Australian perspective. Having completed extensive research focusing on the most economically viable means to transition to a low-carbon economy, Mr Morrison has valuable insight into mining companies reaching net-zero operations cost-effectively.
Having led a turnaround in Canadian policy on nuclear energy, Dr Keefer understands the best practices for the deployment of nuclear energy to achieve climate targets and energy security. Dr Keefer has run successful campaigns to life-extend nuclear power stations and include nuclear energy within green finance mechanisms.
The highly anticipated Diggers and Dealers Awards will be presented on the closing night of the forum at the WesTrac sponsored gala dinner.
The awards recognise outstanding individuals and companies that have made significant contributions and advancements over the past year to the industry.
The awards are sponsored by The Perth Mint and will recognise the following categories:
- Digger of the Year
- Dealer of the Year
- GJ Stokes Memorial Award
- Media Award
- Best Emerging Company Award.
Both WesTrac and The Perth Mint have sponsored the gala dinner and awards respectively for 21 years.
In addition to the scheduled programming, the event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to visit some legendary sites across Kalgoorlie and the surrounding Goldfields region, including an abundance of world-class mining operations such as one of Australia’s largest open pit gold mines, the Super Pit.
“Since inception in the 90s the annual Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum has brought the industry together in Kalgoorlie, to facilitate robust discussion around the health of the mining sector and the challenges it faces,” Mr Walker said.
“Hosting the event in a regional mining town offers attendees the rare opportunity to step out of the marquee and straight into the field — whether it’s a tour of the iconic Super Pit, a mine site tour, inspecting machinery, viewing core samples or going out to an exploration project and seeing the next big discovery being drilled.”
Join leading industry players in Kalgoorlie from August 4-6 and see why Diggers & Dealers remains Australia’s premier mining forum.
